Osram or Philips which one is the best?

Looking change my headlights bulbs, from what I am reading Osram Nighter breaker laser are brighter than the Philips Extrem Vision gen 2. Seems the Philips have better life apan. What would you choose?

Here's a comparison of DS2 Bulbs - but seems like the Osram is the better choice for light output....
    LightWerkz Comparison DS2

Other DS3 comparisons seem to have both fairly even with the consistent difference being the color temp - the Philips is 4800k (Bright White) - while the Osram is highlighted to be a little lower and not as crisp white - if color appearance is important the Philips should win (FYI - Factory DS3 is 4300k - Osram is likely similar)

I have the Philips Gen1 - and it's a nice bright white color - and held up just fine for 3+ years now.... I would go with the Philips myself - although either option will be a substantial improvement over OEM bulb.

I dont know how the D3S compareS, but if theyre like de D2S, Osram have a clear win in term of performance brightness. With the Philips, we can barely see the lines of the 🧱 on the wall. Dont care about colours, just maximum visibility and good durability, like the OeM who lasted 7years before I start noticing brightness fadings.

Just saw this video d3s comparisons. The Philips xenac Cool blue 810lm actually perform better than Philips xtrem vision gen2 700lm. As for the Osram Nighter Breaker Laser is basically crashing the competition 1310lm.

I have OSRAM XENARC NIGHT BREAKER for few months now. Don't notice much difference. But also my headlights are old has 107000KM now. Do the ballasts get weak over time?

Ballasts dont get weak over time, it either works or dont. It the gas in the HID bulbs that fade and get weak over time. If you changed your couple years old oem bulbs and dont see any difference, Ill question the authenticity of the Bubls. Osram and Philips have lots of counterfeits. Did you buy from an authorized Osram distributor?

OEM ballasts should last 12 years+

The bulbs usually last more than 8 years. 10 years is not unheard of.

Philips is known for its durability, but at this point, I think you would get rid of your car before you outlast the bulbs, in which case, I would go with the one that offers the most brightness and best price.

The Osram Night Breaker Laser looks more natural to me, more comfortable to the eyes, and it might have better visibility, I would have to see both in person to know. I think I would go with the OSRAM at this point.

The bulbs might not die for that long, but their output will fade over time. After a couple of years, output is probably 80% and a few years after, even less, etc.

Not to mention that most of the time OEM bulbs leave something to be desired in terms of performance.

Overall I am fan of the Osram line, and the nightbreaker lasers are really nice, definitely more of a halogen color, but if you want optimal performance, they are a really good choice. I had them on my wife's car before we traded it in and the S4 projectors are a little nicer.

From reviews by youtubers, the osram is more of a natural in color, but it is brighter. Probably better at night and during a storm. Where as the Philips, it's more white/bluish hue, not quite better in brightness.

I'm feeling like I'm due for another new set. I've had the Philips WhiteVision Gen.2 for a couple years now and I swear they are getting more dull and less "white" over time. I wish these bulbs would stay at the light output and color they have when they first fire up!

How many years and mileages you had your Philips White Vision Gen 2? I remember when I got the car new, I said these headlight output are great, after 5-6 years, It starts getting dull and need my fog lights to compensate.

I am around 2 years on the White Vision Gen 2. They are still better than the OEM bulbs, but not as good as they were when new.

Received and installed my Osram Night Breaker Laser D3S. I dont have a lux meter so cannot quantify how much brighter but my eyemeter say, colour is like 100k more and light output/brightness is a noticeable improvement compared to the OEM. So overall very happy with the upgrade.

Dont know how long before the original bulbs fails, I had mine over 7 years, still working. I just feel is not as bright the first day I got the car and wanted an upgrade.

It would make sense that it would dim somewhat over time.
So far I got my car used and it's a 2015. I assume it still on OEM lights.

Thank you for ordering from HID CONCEPT.
A lot of customers are debating from Philips XV2 vs Osram XNL.
They are both great bulbs but one thing to note, is that Philips XV2 gives 4800K color with up to 150% more brightness, while Osram XNL gives 4400K with up to 200% more brightness.
Both 'UP TO' brightness cuts down at about HALF in reality (based on how you would feel).
If you don't care about color and only focus on brightness, I would say go for Osram XNL.
If you want slightly better color with tiny bit less light output, go with XV2.

There are some vendors putting up videos showing different light output by using lux meter.
This measuring method is NOT accurate at all since if you move the hotspot point from one location to other location even by a mm, it would give different lux readings.
No offense to those vendors but just wanted to let you guys know.

In case anyone wants to see different options, we have a comparison chart with bar graph here.

I put Morimoto bulbs from The Retrofit Source in mine a few years ago, and am very happy with them. I've used their bulbs, ballasts, conversion kits, etc in many vehicles over many years, and never had an issue.

I heard that the new bulb has like a break in period before it reaches its brightest output...that true? My Osram Night Breaker Laser seem a bit brighter as time goes by or maybe its my imagination...

put in an order for Philips HID X-treme Vision, turns out they seem pretty yellow, almost at 4.3k type "yellow"...
any chance i could have purchased a faulty set?
